Local DJ releases debut album 'Under The Influence'
There's a lot to love about Bill Durry. His passion for his craft is just one of those things. Last week he released his debut album 'Under The Influence' a 12 track collection of work that indulges in genres from house to low-fi. In celebration of the release, I collaborated with Durry to create a 'Miami Polaroid' styled photo shoot. We then spoke about the album and the Bill Durry journey.
Your debut album is finally out. Describe the journey to this point?
It's been absolutely incredible, I've learnt so much along the way. I started the album late Janurary and realised it June 1.
If you had to pick one song that best defines 'Under The Influence', which would you choose?
Peppermint Crisp, it's the crowd pleaser.
What inspired you to start producing music?
I wanted to be able to share my artistic point of view with people and producing music was my way of doing that.
How did the the name Bill Durry come about?
I got home at 3am from a drunk night out, I sat on the toilet and thought 'You know what, I'm changing my name to Bill Durry' and it's stuck ever since! It's also similar to my name (Davis Murray).
Flamingoes or cactuses?
Flamingoes! I've always loved them. I mean cactuses are cool, but flamingoes are more vibrant and elegant.
Where can we hear the album?
Right now you can hear it on Soundcloud. It'll soon be available on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music and Shazam.
I have a song coming out very soon, I'd also like to release another EP by December!
